This year the scenic Salisbury 10 mile race took place in ideal conditions, dry with temperatures around 12 Degrees. Eighteen Farnham Runners made the journey with some combining it with a sightseeing visit to the historic city.

The teams did well, with the men consolidating their position as leaders in both the A2 and B2 tables, coming top in both on the day. The ladies lie in 8th place of 10 clubs in the top flight of the A and B divisions, A1 and B, after 7th and 8th places in Salisbury.

The first six men all achieved personal best times, with James Clarke leading them in a splendid time of 57:40 to place as 3rd M40. The next two were also under the hour, James Robinson in 58:14 and Joe Collins in 59:30.Training hard for the Comrades marathon in South Africa, Ivan Chunnett was final A team scorer in 1:09:30, a PB by almost 2.5 minutes.

Running for the B team were Richard Denby in a personal best 1:09:45, Andy Brown in 1:10:47, Tony Jones in 1:11:01 and James Goodwin in 1:14:50.

Three runners made up the C team that placed 8th in the C table. They were Christopher Allen in 1:20:09, Howard Inns in 1:32:56 and Chris Gill in 1:35:24.

Linda Tyler, 3rd F60 led in the ladies in 1:18:29 followed by Toria Dick in 1:19:41, Billy McCulloch pleased to be back racing this distance, in 1:22:37 and Candy Waller in 1:26:28. Gemma Whitehouse in 1:28:07 was first in the C team that placed 8th. Next came Kelly Lincoln in 1:30:04 and Sandra Hickey in 1:34:24, both in their first 10 miler.

HRRL Fleet Half Marathon

Seventeen Farnham Runners chose to run the expertly organised Fleet Half Marathon over a new course the following week. Again conditions were good on the day with just a slight wind.

Toby Loomis took a huge chunk of 11 minutes off his previous PB, finishing in a fine time of 1:19:44.

Chris Matthews took another minute from his PB in 1:20:39 while Georgina Revell ran her first race since joining the club in an excellent 1:25:42, 17th lady.

Stuart Taylor clocked 1:26:01 while Chris Raby chopped almost 3 minutes from the previous M65 club record in 1:29:22.
