About our training sessions
We meet at our Club House on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout the year for a variety of training sessions.
There are additional speed-sessions and on-road hill training on Tuesday evenings.
Our qualified UK Athletics Level Two coaches are insured to lead sessions in endurance events.
If you think you'd like to have a go then we welcome newcomers at any of our training sessions where you should make yourself known to a committee member.

Introducing you to running and our club.
2019 course: welcome evening Wednesday 24th April, course runs to 22nd June
9:30am from the Club House
When a big race is not on, Sundays are for those long, slow training runs. We run out from the clubhouse into the surrounding countryside, making as much use as possible of the wide variety of terrain on the commons of Frensham, Tilford, Hankley or Crooksbury (amongst others).
6:30pm at All Hallows School, Weybourne Road, Farnham from 2nd April
All Hallows school from field at rear
Park in car park at side of the school and meet on field behind the school buildings. Use the first entrance to the school as you approach from Farnham along Weybourne Road to access the car park (except during school holidays when it will be neccessary to use the second entrance).
We will be training on the field. All standards of runner are welcome. This training is almost guaranteed to improve your pace and is suitable for all speeds of runners.
To give an idea of what we do, this is a typical session:
- We warm up and then do some dynamic stretching drills and give tips on posture and style before the main session.
- The main session includes different distances and recovery times e.g. 2 sets of 4x 400m followed by a 1200m tempo run (the number of repetitions, sets and recovery times and length of tempo run is varied to suit each individual runner)
- On other occasions we do pyramid sessions, interval and jog recoveries or pair up for alternate reps to introduce an element of competition
- We then do a warm down, static stretching and some core strength exercises.
Don’t worry if you haven’t tried any thing like this before, as we are keen to introduce new and not so new runners to this type of training.

7pm from the Club House
Six to seven groups generally form up - those who want to go further or faster and those who'd like to keep it steady.
During the winter the runs are mostly around Farnham town where we can find street lighting. Longer runs are out to Aldershot or Badshot Lea for those who want to.
During the summer months the runs can be on a variety of terrain over the many commons within easy reach of the clubhouse. Again, the distances and speeds can vary according to needs and ability.
Distances range from 5 to 11 miles at 10 minute mile pace and faster up to 6 to 7 minute mile pace. If you have not reached these standards yet please email us for advice about how Farnham Runners can help you.
Club volunteers are always needed to lead groups - see box-out above.
