HRRL Salisbury 10
Farnham Runners Press Release - 10/03/13
Maybe it was Mothers’ Day commitments or the chilly wind that greeted entrants at the Salisbury 10 mile race on Sunday, but as the club recently celebrated its 200th member, only seven members of Farnham Runners turned out to tackle the picturesque but cold route along the Avon Valley just North of Salisbury.
With the Cathedral Spire in sight, club stalwart Charles Ashby completed his first race since Gosport in the autumn and recorded a fine 1.03.34 on very little training to get back first for the club, placing 54th and 19th Male 40 category.
Fantastic runs from two newer members came next with Stuart Taylor 72nd in 1.04.47 and Richard Lovejoy 87th in 1.05 59 - a runner who is growing in confidence in his own ability and improving times underlining his potential.
Martin Billett was next home in 1.07.44, placing 107th and 7th in Male 50 category. Managing Achilles problems carefully Martin heads toward The London Marathon now inside the current UK athletics top sixty rankings at both 10 and 20 miles distances.
Chris Cramp continues to show improving form with yet another PB recording 1.13.14 for 191st - another great performance from a genuine club man who will run anywhere, anytime for the team.
Lucy Enstock battled the chill head winds bravely for her 1.18.00, placing 250th and should be congratulated on being our only lady to make the start line.
Alistair Wilson completed the Farnham turnout with a solid 1.19.28 placing 266th as he continues to progress towards London where he will get undoubted successes to show for a disciplined and tough winter programme.
